Capture

The PCA, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The PCA functions under his or her own certification and assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their families. The PCA assumes responsibility to maintain a current certification through the Texas Nurse Aide Registry.

 

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

PRN

6:00 PM - 6:00 AM

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
· Obtain vital signs and report any abnormal measurements according to procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting

· Provide safe transportation of patients throughout the employing healthcare institution.

· Assume responsibility for the completion of delegated duties in accordance to their scope of practice.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

·High school diploma or equivalent

· AHA BLS Healthcare Providers required.

· Required to complete four (4) hours of hospital provided continuing education hours upon hire and annually for Total Joint and Spine. Education will focus on management/care of total hip, knee and shoulder replacement as well as elective spine surgery patients.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to:

· Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
