The Business Intelligence Developer I play a pivotal role in enhancing Midland’s decision-making capabilities by developing and refining analytics and data solutions. This position is pivotal in providing the organization with the tools and insights necessary for effective, evidence-based decision-making.
With a focus on building their expertise, the Business Intelligence Developer works collaboratively with a team of business intelligence professionals to create data deliverables that offer timely and accurate information. Their goal is to transform complex data sets into understandable and actionable information that supports the organization's objectives.
Key to this role is a solid understanding of relational databases and data normalization principles. The Business Intelligence Developer possesses strong technical skills, including proficiency in reading and writing SQL queries and the ability to design reports. They are adept at creating both graphical user interfaces (GUI) for dashboards and reports, as well as working directly with database system languages (SQL, Stored Procedures, etc.) with minimal oversight.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for BI Developers, as they frequently collaborate with team members and engage with various stakeholders, including physicians and clinicians. They are responsible for interpreting business requirements, often taking the initiative to gather these requirements directly when necessary.

Under the guidance of the BI Manager or supervisory staff, the Business Intelligence Developer coordinates across functional teams to guarantee the data content is delivered using EDS best practices for content delivery.
An essential duty of the Business Intelligence Developer is to provide on-call support for the reporting systems. This support is crucial for the seamless delivery of Business Intelligence content and the efficient transportation of data across systems.
This role requires a balance of technical proficiency and leadership skills to mentor and direct less experienced team members toward achieving departmental goals and maintaining high quality data management practices. They fully support Midland Health's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.
The Business Intelligence Developer works collaboratively with Data Coordinators, Data Engineers, and Data Architects to ensure the team's work delivery is in alignment with governance and priorities for Midland Health’s priorities.
