
The Data Architect plays a pivotal role in designing and managing the data infrastructure. This role's primary responsibilities are aligning Midland Health’s data architecture in the cloud data warehouse to support business solutions and data-driven decisionmaking. The Data Architect is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing logical, conceptual, and physical data models, ensuring the business logic aligns with the business needs. Additionally, the architect is accountable for documenting and integrating the code, architectural design, and testing data into Midland’s Snowflake environment.
As a Data Architect, you will design, implement, and maintain data solutions within the Snowflake cloud environment. Your expertise will drive efficient data management, scalability, and security across Midland Health’s data ecosystem. Key areas of focus for this role are:
- Architecture Design: Create robust data architectures that align with business needs, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
- Data Modeling: Develop logical and physical data models, considering data integration, transformation, and storage requirements.
- ETL Pipeline Management: Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines, ensuring smooth data flow from source to destination.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security controls, encryption, and compliance measures to protect sensitive data.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously enhance query performance, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders.
- Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of data architecture, processes, and best practices.
An essential duty of the Data Architect is to provide on-call support for the reporting systems. This support is crucial for the seamless delivery of Business Intelligence content and the efficient transportation of data across systems.
This role requires a balance of technical proficiency and leadership skills to mentor and direct less experienced team members toward achieving departmental goals and maintaining highquality data management practices. They fully support Midland Health's mission, vision, values,and strategic goals.
The Data Architect will collaborate with a team of Data Coordinators, BI Developers, and Data Engineers to ensure high-quality data that supports Midland Health’s priorities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Meets customers’ analytic needs by maintaining and supporting high-value Business Intelligence environments.
- Data Modeling: Develop, optimize, and oversee logical, conceptual, and physical data models, ensuring they align with business needs and best practices.
- Data Integration: Architect, design, code, and test data integration processes, working along with a team of Engineers and Developers to integrate third-party tools seamlessly into the Snowflake environment.
- Data Governance: Documents, enforces, and adherence to data governance policies. Supports data quality standards, access controls, and data lineage in architectural design concepts and models.
- Works on-call schedule. Troubleshoots and triages issues with ETL and Business Intelligence cycles.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously review and audit data models for enhancements. Optimize query performance, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
- ETL Pipeline Maintenance: Maintain an ideal data pipeline based on ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools. Monitor and troubleshoot data loading processes.
- Security and Compliance: Implement encryption, access controls, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) to ensure data security.
- Scalability and Resilience: Design data models for scalability and high availability. Manage data growth and plan disaster recovery scenarios.
- Resolves ITSM incidents and requests independently within SLA timelines. Takes ownership of and resolves complicated/code-intensive incidents and requests.

- Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the assigned department. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence to applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative-oriented field such as Business, Economics, Statistics,
- Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Information Technology, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Commensurate work experience will be considered in lieu of education requirements.
- 2+ years of relevant career or education maintaining BI, Data Warehouse, or ETL in aRun or Production environment.
- Previous experience working on ETL development and maintenance experience in a Data Warehouse Environment.
- 2+ years of experience in a database or report portal tool administration.
- Previous healthcare experience preferred.
- Previous experience in systems engineering (hardware/software) capacity preferred.
- Previous experience working with an integrated Electronic Medical Record (EMR)within a healthcare organization is preferred.
