JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides nurse/clinician with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythm. Monitors heart rhythm patterns to detect, record, and report normal/abnormal heart patterns, normal/abnormal ECG interval measurements and proper/improper pacemaker or implantable defibrillator function utilizing telemetry equipment.
Shift & Schedule:
Fulltime, Overnight Shift, 7:00pm to 7:00am
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
• Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns and prior variances.
• Observes cardiac monitor and notifies the nursing and/or medical staff of any abnormal heart rhythm variances.
• Manages telemetry equipment and supplies.
• Must successfully complete a competency examination as defined by department competency requirements for Telemetry Monitor Technicians.
• Obtain certification as a monitor technician by an approved organization to be designated MT II. Certification is the Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) certification.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associates degree or higher preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Monitor Tech II: national certification in telemetry required
