The Scheduler- Labor and Delivery RN is responsible for coordinating and scheduling all inductions, cesarean sections, and related services for the Labor and Delivery unit to ensure efficient patient flow and positive experience. This role serves as a liaison between patients, providers, and clinical staff to promote continuity of care, timely access to services, and adherence to clinical guidelines. The Scheduler-Labor and Delivery RN maintains accurate records, manages scheduling systems, and provides support as needed. The RN functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of nursing practice. The RN demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in nursing practice, and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning.

 

SHIFT & SCHEDULE

Full Time

Monday - Friday

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

 

  •  Prioritizes, organizes and plans for the unit through scheduling accuracy.
  •  Manages a large volume of work efficiently, enters orders, review history and physical and performs other duties in a timely manner.
  •  Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to patient access, scheduling, and care coordination.
  •  Anticipates the needs of the ongoing shift and the schedule for upcoming days.
  •  Serve as the primary point of contact for physicians, patients, and nursing staff regarding scheduling needs and changes; notify staff of schedule changes in real time.
  •  Collaborate with nursing leadership and charge nurses to manage daily staffing and procedural flow.
  •  Contributes toward the organization and efficiency of the unit.
  •  Orders supplies and equipment as needed.
  •  Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse
  • Certification in area of specialty (e.g., RNC-OB) preferred
  • ACLS required within 12 months of date of employment in the O.R.
  • 2 years L&D experience, preferred
