The primary responsibility of the Painter is to maintain and improve the visual appearance of the facility to ensure a pleasant environment for patients, visitors and staff. This includes but is not limited to the painting, texturing, surface preparation, and wall repair within a hospital environment. Maintains tools and other equipment required to perform essential duties. Must be able to effectively communicate with medical staff, patients, families and the general public.

 

Shift & Schedule: 

Fulltime, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

· Tape, bed, and texture new sheet rock.

· Patch all holes, rips, and tears in wall surfaces. Texture and paint to match existing

finishes.

· Sand and paint all metal doors, door frames and other metal finishes in facility.

· Sand and seal all natural wood doors and other wood surfaces in facility.

· Repair or replace vinyl wall covering as necessary.

· Minor cabinetry and laminate repair

· Maintains current knowledge of systems used in job, including codes and standards.

· Maintain effective, but efficient inventory of all paint and painting supplies.

· Provides a safe environment for patients, guests and staff.

· Maintain quality control of all finishes in facility.

· Participates in the orientation of new staff members.

· Performs tasks using sound practices, requiring minimal correction or re-work.

· Responds to trouble calls in a timely manner.

· Maintains an accurate knowledge of building systems, including but not limited to a basic

knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and central utility plant repair functions.

· Completes Work Request Orders in a timely manner.

· Manages complaints properly.

· May be required to work other than scheduled hours.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Mental development equivalent to completion of 1-2 years of college and capable of solving practical problems with a variety of variables.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to:

Ø Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.

Ø Must be able to push, pull, lift, and manipulate equipment and possess good hand-eye coordination.
