The RT(R)(M), with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The RT(R)(M) functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of practice. The RT(R)(M) demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in practice, and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning.

 

Shift & Schedule: 

PRN, Saturdays, 8:00am to 5:00pm 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

· Practices technology founded upon theoretical knowledge and concepts, uses equipment

and accessories consistent with the purposes for which they were designed, and employs

procedures and techniques appropriately

· Assesses situations; exercises care, discretion, and judgment; assumes responsibility for

professional decisions; and acts in the best interest of the patient.

· Acts as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent information

for the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient and recognizes that

interpretation and diagnosis are outside the scope of practice for the profession.

· The technologist uses equipment and accessories, employs techniques and procedures,

performs services in accordance with an accepted standard of practice, and demonstrates

expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to the patient, self, and other members of the

healthcare team.

· The Radiology Career Ladder Radiology Career Ladder Policy is designed to recognize

professional excellence in relation to imaging. The policy outlines the process by which

the employee will be evaluated to ensure that the employee is meeting minimum job level

requirements to maintain their current level on the career ladder, a mechanism for the

employee to advance up the ladder or for management to adjust their level down if the

employee does not meet the minimum requirements for their current level. The

Radiology Career Ladder Evaluation Request Form is where the employee documents

achievements and obtains approval to maintain same level or advance to the next level

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Current State of Texas License as a Radiology Technologist.

· ARRT registered in Mammography or registry eligible. Must pass mammography registry within 12 months of hire date.

· Licensure Requirements – 15 mammography direct CEU credit hours in a rolling three- year time period in addition to the 24 CEU credit hours required for ARRT.

· Minimum of 1 year of experience as a diagnostic technologist.

· Documented 40 hours of mammography training and completion of 25 exams under direct supervision of an experienced technologist.

· Total Joint & Spine Center initial and annual education: 1.5 hours

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ø Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
