The Patient Financial Advisor primary responsibilities are:
1) Ensure patient financial problems are addressed; no financial resources, limited coverage, benefits exhausted and liability situations. Collects deposits, establish payment arrangements and assist for Medicaid coverage;
2) Coordinates referrals to outside vendors for receivable problems. This position must be knowledgeable regarding payer and benefit program complexity and eligibility criteria;
3) to gather all pertinent patient information;
4) to accurately update patients accounts;
5) to pre-certify all applicable admissions/pre-admissions;
6) Assist with obtaining signatures on all appropriate admissions forms if appropriate;
7) to ensure that patient benefits/eligibility are verified and entered into the Hospital’s Information’s System when applicable;
8) estimate and collect all co-pay’s/deductible’s that are owed to the hospital to meet departmental requirements.
This person will project a professional image, to include appearance, confidence, knowledge, and organization of work. Also, will communicates using active listening, thinking/analysis, appropriate response, and anger diffusion skills. This position must be successful in obtaining the desired results by resolving complex problems, at times, independent of direct supervision.
